We love nothing better than fully stripping a filthy, failed engine and then cleaning & renewing components until they are like brand new.
Originally to be found in the BMW 330d, 530d, 730d & X5 – a rebuilt M57 engine is now a popular choice for Land Rover Defender conversion projects.

The video shows an M57 engine before we begin to strip it down – it also shows a fully reconditioned engine build nearing completion.
We strip absolutely everything down and clean all the parts to be retained using various specialised industrial processes. The engine block is laser cleaned before it is re-enameled. Aluminium components are hot-washed and aqua-blasted with high pressure water and glass beads.
Once every component looks like new, the M57 block & cylinder head are machined prior to the rebuild process with new genuine components including:
- high pressure fuel pump
- main bearings
- conrod bearings
- piston rings
- all gaskets, seals & fastenings
- timing chain assembly
- valves & valve stem oil seals
- valve cover & breather
- oil filter housing & cooler
- oil pump
- water pump
- glow plugs
This results in a brand new M57 306D1 or 306D2 ready for installation into your project of choice.
